What Are Dermal Fillers?

As we age it is not uncommon to see facial volume deplete as a result of the natural aging process. Dermal fillers safely reduce the appearance of unwanted lines and wrinkles, plump lips, and replace volume due to fat-pad loss in common areas including cheeks, nasolabial folds, and lips. Dermal fillers are formulated with different ingredients including hyaluronic acid (HA), calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) or poly-l lactic acid. Each of these ingredients are used for different areas of the face to safely replenish lost volume. Your injector will work with you to determine what filler is best for you depending on your desired results.

Your Dermal Filler Consultation & Appointment

Revolution Aesthetics & Wellness practitioners will sit down with you for an in depth consultation. It is important to come prepared to discuss your concerns and the results you are looking for. We will review your medical history with you to make sure you are a good candidate for dermal fillers and provide a facial analysis. Together, we will make a plan, discuss any other procedures such as neuromodulators and set your appointment time.

The treatment time will vary depending on the numbers of areas being treated and how many syringes are needed for correction. Fillers are injected slowly for optimal safety. For a more comfortable experience your injector will apply numbing cream to the treatment area 30 minutes prior to your session.

Dermal Filler After Care

Dermal fillers are a non-surgical procedure and there is no “down time” but it is important to follow a few guidelines. During the first 24-48 hours after treatment it is normal to experience swelling, redness, and tenderness. Bruising is also common at the injection site and should resolve within 1-10 days.

After your dermal filler treatment you should:

  1. Avoid caffeine and alcohol for a minimum of 24 hours to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling.
  2. Avoid blood thinning medications such as aspirin. If your medication has been issued by your doctor please speak with them before discontinuing.
  3. Cover up to avoid excess sun exposure for 24 hours.
  4. Apply ice at the injection site frequently for up to 6 hours after treatment.

PRP Injections

Platelet-Rich-Plasma injections are a natural way to give a more youthful appearance to the skin. Most people do not need under eye or tear trough filler, as results can end up looking worse over time. PRP is a great option to restore volume loss in this area and is done by taking your own blood, spinning down the plasma and reinjecting into the areas. PRP can help rejuvenate the skin, improve skin texture, decreases the appearance of fine lines and stimulates collagen production.
